⏳ «او جلو و عقب قدم می‌زد و منتظر خبر بود.»
➤ یعنی «به جلو و عقب»، «رفت و برگشت» (بی‌قرار بودن).
2. First and foremost

⏳ «قبل از هر چیز، باید از امنیت همه مطمئن شویم.»
➤ یعنی «در درجه‌ی اول»، «قبل از هر چیز».
3. Sooner or later
👉 Sooner or later, the truth comes out.
⏳ «دیر یا زود حقیقت آشکار می‌شود.»
➤ بیان قطعیت اتفاق در آینده.
4. Pros and cons
👉 Let’s discuss the pros and cons of the plan.
⏳ «بیایید مزایا و معایب طرح را بررسی کنیم.»
5. Trial and error
👉 We learned the process through trial and error.
⏳ما این فرایند را با آزمون‌وخطا یاد گرفتیم.
6. More or less

⏳ «کار کم‌وبیش انجام شده است.»
➤ یعنی «تقریباً»، «حدوداً».

⏳ «هر از گاهی می‌رم پیاده‌روی.

⏳ «ما سال‌هاست گه‌گاهی با هم درس می‌خونیم.»
➤ یعنی «گاهی»، «با وقفه و از سرگیری».

⏳ «دولت جدید قول داد نظم و قانون را برقرار کند.»

⏳ «آنها سالم و سلامت به خانه رسیدند.»

⏳ «از انتظار کشیدن خسته و کلافه‌ام.»
➤ ترکیب شدت‌دهنده.
12. Sick to death of (something)
👉 I’m sick to death of all this noise.
⏳ «از این همه سر و صدا جونم به لبم رسیده.»
➤ یعنی شدیداً به ستوه آمدن.
13. Odds and ends
👉 The drawer was full of odds and ends.
⏳ «کشو پر از خرت‌وپرت بود.»
14. Bits and pieces
👉 There were bits and pieces of paper all over the floor.
⏳ «تکه‌پاره‌های کاغذ کف زمین بود.»
➤ یعنی خرده‌ریز، چیزهای کوچک و پراکنده.
